DENVER, NC – Marc Walker, a career law enforcement veteran with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, today announced his official candidacy for Sheriff of Lincoln County.
“It is an honor to announce my candidacy for Sheriff of Lincoln County. I know that our campaign has something to offer all citizens of Lincoln County. Most importantly, we must win back the public trust in our elected officials,” Walker said.

RALEIGH - Last week the General Assembly saw more than its usual share of falsehoods.
The North Carolina Democratic Party created a Twitter account for Rep. Stam and posted malicious and ridiculous statements attributed to him. The Democratic Party’s dirty trick was quickly found out by blogger, Laura Leslie of Isaac Hunter’s Tavern. Instead of apologizing and promising never to do it again, the NC Democratic Party defended the practice and then created the “Not Actually Skip Stam” site. Not a word of apology from any Democrat.

Wall Street ended another unforgiving month with a steep loss — one that left the Dow Jones industrial average at less than half its record high.
The day's news unsettled investors. Citigroup Inc. agreed to turn over a big piece of itself to the government, a move that fanned worries that other banks would face crippling trouble with bad debt. General Electric Co. slashed its quarterly dividend by 68 percent. Both companies are part of the Dow Jones industrial average, which fell 119 points.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC-05) today voted in opposition to a massive spending bill (H.R. 1105) that once again increases federal government spending at a time of record budget deficits. H.R. 1105, which completes the funding process for the federal government for fiscal year 2009, spends $410 billion, 8.3 percent more than 2008.
“The federal budget is growing by 8.3 percent, while family budgets are shrinking,” Foxx said. “At a time when Americans are tightening their belts, Washington is on a reckless spending spree. This is irresponsible.”
