From Chad Adams ... Republicans Should Elect Republicans - Open vs. Closed Primaries E-mail
Monday, 08 June 2009 00:00

DISCLAIMER: CNC has not endorsed any candidate for NCGOP Chairman. The following has been offered for informational purposes only.

chad adams white bkground Dear Fellow Delegates,

In the 90s, both Republicans and Democrats in NC opened their party primaries to Unaffiliated voters. For the GOP, hope was that this move would attract more voters and elect more Republicans.

The unintended consequence?  Unaffiliated voters have become the fastest growing group of voters. In short, a barely active Republican can file for any office, and with the right mix of Unaffiliateds supporting them, would need very few actual Republicans to vote in order to win.

We should close our primaries to Republicans only.  Party identification should matter.  The Republican Party should offer good reasons to BE a Republican.

Closing our primary will allow our conservative voice to matter in choosing candidates and will dramatically strengthen the role of the local party as it recruits candidates to run. And in the general elections, our party is much more likely to field strong, conservative candidates to represent our issues.

If we do not act, we will continue to see more and more voters moving to the ranks of the unaffiliated. Let's give voters a conservative choice when they approach a ballot box. We do this by being confident of our message and clear about who gets to pick Republican candidates.

Thank you for your support - I need your vote in Raleigh on June 13th.

Sincerely,
 signature
Chad Adams for NC GOP

Chad...I'm going to give you a shot...please don't mess it up, lol. I'm praying for you to go all the way. I can't participate right now due to family illness but I'm there in spirit.
Please work hard to bring the Conservatives back to the party or we're done for. They need to sign Sean Hannity's contract if you ask me. Just a thought. And if they don't live up to that contract, they can be "recalled" if necessary but they need to represent the PEOPLE, not their own selfish personal political interests.
