| Charlotte Observer's Odd Concept of "Balance" = Democratic Super Majority |
|
|
On October 18, 2009, the Charlotte Observer endorsed Anthony Foxx for Mayor because they argue Anthony Foxx (who the editors' describe as a "work in progress" who is "still honing his ... governing skills") is "a better fit for what Charlotte needs at this point in its evolution as a city." Yesterday, the Charlotte Observer argued that "[i]n a city roughly balanced between Democrats and Republicans" ... that "a council with a rough balance among the varied philosophies found throughout the city will be a stronger council" ... and THAT is why the Observer endorsed a 7-4 Democratic Super-majority on the City Council (which if they have they're way in the Mayor's race would no longer be limited by a Republican veto from the Mayor's chair). Huh?
